Founded in 1982 by eleven charter member congregations, H.E.L.P. has grown to include sixty-one congregations in the City of Hampton.
H.E.L.P. is a faith-based organization supported by its member congregations, schools, businesses, civic clubs and organizations in conjunction with the City of Hampton. Together it has made great strides in providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, a winter shelter program, food for the poor, financial assistance to those in need, life skill training and job placement for the homeless, and free healthcare to those without medical coverage.
For twenty-five years, H.E.L.P. has grown dramatically both in the number of volunteers and people it serves in various ministries. Together it has made a difference in literally thousands of lives and thus have made our community a better place for all citizens.
